LIFE NUGGET #9: '“Are you willing to let go”
Something devastating had happened to the world as we knew it. Now, we were bumping along in a van that was “patchwork” of workable parts at best and junkyard trophy at worst. As we went down the “road” we stopped to load another person in this miracle machine! They were the dirty, bruised and broken remnant left in this community. Our goal was to get them to the safest place we could and give them a phone number for a place that would provide some real help and healing.
There was a large broken-down community building in the distance that was our base for a form of reconnaissance. All those we gathered were covered with either dirt, blood or both. Here in this makeshift infirmary, they could at least get washed off and that would have to suffice for now. In the background a tune kept playing over and over. It was catchy and encouraging. “I’m willing to let go and let God. Show me how to be free…. Your yoke is easy, Your burden is light...my daily bread and my daily delight. I’m learning to let go and let God-so I can be the real me…” THAT tune, along with our continued TRUTH Speak to one another and the remnant, had an effect of strengthening hope we held fast to. This was clearly seen in each of those that open-handed came and received. As we continued gathering those in need, giving out the phone number, and bringing them to a place of refuge (literally helping anyone around us as best we could) the sound of a very strong wind and that tune began to envelope me, along with a growing bright light.
The moment was drawing to a close with a gentle transition from the unconsciousness dream realm to the morning routine! I awakened with a sigh and a prayer - “Whoa…that was another very real dream…Abba Yah what was that? Whatever it was or is…I’m willing LORD. I want to know YOU and whatever You have for us. Strengthen and lead! We will continue to encourage one another and help others heal the best we can- enabled by YOU, our Healer, and the gifts You have given us as our unique identities in Your Kingdom.”
What can happen if we all are willing to let go and let GOD show us who we truly are and what we really need? (Phil 2:13) The adventure is sure to be amazing and life altering. Because, when we do surrender, we are then fully-yielded and enabled by Holy Spirit. Then, transformation begins! (Joshua 1:1-11) We become strong and courageous in the face of adversity or devastation; we are unshaken and joyful conduits of true hope, life, light, cleansing, healing; and we become the ones who are compelled to intentionally share His daily bread with others and lead them a safe refuge.
